Frequently Asked Questions

Over the years we have encountered several kinds of production buildings warehousing and hangers.
Here are answers to some of the most commonly asked questions:

1. Cranes

Q. Our building has cranes operating at high level, what height will the heating be situated and how can you heat these areas?

A. Although every building is different, the new heating system will generally be fitted at the same level as the lighting in the building. If cranes pass under or close to the heating we can add heat reflectors if needed. The heaters will be laid out and fitted to accommodate all existing structures in the building.

2. Building Height

Q. I have a very high building, I understand Radiant heating doesn't work above a specific height?

A. Conventional Radiant heating doesn't usually work above a height of around 10 meters. Our system is designed to operate in a completely different way and using our patented technology the heating it can be tuned to suit any height of building..We have successfully heated one of the largest aircraft hangers in Europe saving the customer 95% of their yearly energy cost, with the heat recovery time from opening the doors improved from 48 hours to just 10 minutes.

3. Hot & Coldspots

Q. In the past, I've experienced hot and cold spots from radiant heating systems, is your system like this?

A. Our system is completely different to other systems on the market. It is designed to provide an even, non intrusive temperature throughout the building. As part of the installation design, we guarantee no more then a 1 degree temperature difference throughout your building.

4. Running Cost

Q. The savings sound too good to be true, how can we be sure we will save money with this system, how do you guarantee the running cost?

A. We assess your building, your required running hours, required temperatures and the current heating system. A lot of company's don't actually know the correct percentage of cost of their existing heating system, some put too much of the cost down to process. When we've done this we can then tell you what your current system costs to run. We then work out the running cost of the new system using degree day average data for the area, the data is always adjusted allowing for milder or colder weather to ensure like for like. We can then guarantee the running cost of the new system because we then have all the data needed to do so. Most heating suppliers want to sell you a system and walk away, we want to help you run it maximise the savings.

5. Mezzanine Floors

Q. We have racking in the building from floor to ceiling, we have mezzanine floors, how can you get heating into all of the areas and ensure an even temperature throughout?

A. Our system is different, it can still heat these hard to reach areas, at the design stage everything in the building is taken into account and allowed for to ensure an even temperature throughout.

6. Smoke Pollution

Q. We have smoke pollution issues from welding process, when we try to ventilate in the winter the building gets too cold, how do you resolve these issues?

A. One of the many benefits of the Globe heating system is it allows you to ventilate the building properly. This then allows you to clear up pollution issues without the risk of making the building too cold or the ventilation system fighting with the heating system. We have helped clear up many issues in buildings including weld smoke which had resulted in a thick smog in the roof of the building.

7. Limited Access

Q. How would you fit heating above a production line with limited access and limited floor space?

A. We have several years experience doing exactly this, the methods we use include booming equipment up past and over obstacles in the safest possible manor.

8. Oil Mist

Q. We have an oil mist problem, pollution issues, can and how do you resolve these issues?

A. One of the many benefits of the Globe heating system is it allows you to ventilate the building properly. This then allows you to clear up any process pollution without risk of making the building too cold or the intake/extract fighting with the heating system. We have helped clear up many issues in buildings including oil mist which had previously resulted in oil running down the beams.

9. Decentralise

Q. Our steam boilers run the whole plant, including the office heating and the hot water, if we decentralise, how will we take care of these areas?

A. We have vast experience with decentralisation projects, all areas are covered in our proposals including office heating and process requirements. It is a very good opportunity to upgrade everything to the latest technology, to improve the comfort and save even more cost.

10. Temperature

Q. We require different temperatures and air changes in parts of the building, we also have to run at different times for shifts throughout, how do we allow for this?

A. The system is designed and installed where it splits the building into multiple Zones.
The heating and ventilation can therefore be adjusted separately in each of these zones to run at the required temperatures, air changes and times in each area all separately.

11. Savings

Q. How do we know how well the new system is performing and that we are making the savings?

A. Once installed, we monitor the heating and ventilation systems hourly and record the temperatures and the Gas consumption daily. We compile this information monthly and using the degree average data we work out the exact usage and performance figures for that month. We then compare the results to same month the year before. This information is then provided to you in a monthly report showing you exactly how much you have used and how much you have saved all in relation to the guaranteed running cost.

12. Heating Staff

Q. We have existing heating staff, can they work on the new heating system?

A. We run the systems for you, either remotely or if a lager system we are based in our own control office on-site. If required we can train some of your existing heating staff to work along side us to run, service and maintain the system.

13. Temperatures

14. Savings

Q. How do we know how well the new system is preforming and that we are making the savings?

A. Once installed, we monitor the heating and ventilation systems hourly and record the temperatures and the Gas consumption daily. We compile this information monthly and using the degree average data we work out the exact usage and performance figures for that month. We then compare the results to the year before and this information is then provided to you in a monthly report showing you exactly how much you have used and how much you have saved all in relation to the guaranteed running cost.
